“Porcelain veneers are specifically made for your teeth in our laboratory by our dental technician. They can be designed in any shade that you like, they are beautiful and very long lasting. Essentially, porcelain veneers are the
'Gold Standard' in Cosmetic Dentistry.”

— Dr Mark Dennes, Principal Dentist

Porcelain veneers are a long-lasting cosmetic dental treatment designed to conceal imperfections and transform the aesthetics of your smile.

Teeth that are stained, misaligned, crooked or misshapen can benefit aesthetically from porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers can be used to close gaps, and to mask chips and discolouration. The treatment creates a natural looking smile that is custom designed to suit your facial features.

How do veneers work?

Dental veneers are an ideal treatment because they offer an alternative to braces and other cosmetic solutions by covering the tooth, much like a contact covers your eyes. Veneers are able to change the colour, shape, size, or length of your teeth.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Dr Mark Dennes’ porcelain veneers generally last around 12-15 years (and they can last longer if cared for appropriately). Some patients prefer to have them replaced around this time to refresh the aesthetics of the veneers.

Porcelain Veneers: The Dental Procedure

Porcelain veneers generally require a minimum of two trips to the dentist:

  1. Initially we will discuss your concerns and your cosmetic and restorative options with you, prior to your treatment. To prepare the teeth for your veneers, your dentist will need to take an impression of your smile and carefully remove a thin layer of the tooth’s enamel. The enamel loss is necessary for the veneers to fit comfortably and look natural without appearing bulky. The impressions will be used to fabricate your new veneers. Once the veneers are ready, your dentist will schedule your second appointment.

  1. During your second appointment, your dentist will temporarily place the dental veneers against your teeth. This is where your dentist will analyse the fit, shape and colour; trimming, shaping or adjusting the shade of the veneers into your desired shape and shade. Once your dentist is satisfied with the veneers, he will carefully bond them to the surface of your teeth using a special kind of light-activating permanent cement.
